KERALA ARMED POLICE III BATTALION, Adoor,Pathanamthitta
History of the Battalion KAP 3 Battalion was initially formed with Headquarters at Nilambur, Later as per the GO (Rt) No: 384/91/Home Dtd: 17/ 01/ 1991, Government had issued orders fixing the Headquarters of this Battalion at Adoor in Pathanamthitta District. Accordingly 14.1650 hectors of land in old survey No: 267(part) and 308 (New survey No: 52 & 48/03) of Erathu village (Erathu Panchayath) in Adoor Taluk, which was owned by Sri. K.Damodaran Unnithan was acquired on payment of Rs. 87,63,953/-. The foundation stone was laid by Sri.E.K.Nayanar, the hten Hon’ble Chief Minister of Kerala on 29/08/1998. The construction of the buildings in the above land was entrusted with the Kerala Police Housing Construction Corporation. The newly constructed Headquarters of the KAP 3 Battalion at Adoor was commissioned on 16/05/2003 by the then Hon’ble Chief Minister of Kerala Sri. A.K.Antony. This is the first Battalion for which a new camp with modern buildings were constructed after the formation of Kerala. Functioning of the Battalion office was started in the new camp on 16/06/2003 vide G.O(MS) 100/2003 Dtd 07/05/2003. Later as per the order No: F3-7757/03/LD IS Dtd: 21/07/2003 of the Director of Treasuries, Thiruvananthapuram, all the financial transactions of the Battalion have been transferred from the Sub-Treasury, Vellayambalam, Thiruvananthapuram to Sub- treasury, Adoor.
