This system was introduced in the Kerala Police in 1998 and the same is functioning very successfully in all Police Districts. Any citizen coming to know of the designs of anybody to commit a crime or having information that a crime is being committed or having information that a wanted criminal is at large or having any other information which is of use to the Police from the Law & Order point of view, including information on Extremists and Terrorists, etc, would be encouraged to give the information through the above mentioned telephone.

Highway Alert : 9846 100 100

Any person can contact this number to get the assistance of the Highway Police anytime (day or night). This Alert Number can communicate with the concerned Highway Patrol vehicle without any loss of time through Wireless & Mobile Phone about any distress call so that Highway Patrol can reach the spot without much loss of time.  The Highway Patrol covering important roads are also meant for traffic regulations, traffic law enforcement and accident management on the roads. 

Examples of correct usage of Highway Alert :

1. " My car No. KL - XX - XXXX, white Maruthi is hit by a bike at Chakkai Junction"
2. " A big truck No. XXXX-XXXX is driven probably by a drunken driver in a rash manner towards Attingal from Mangalapuram"

Railway Alert : 9846 200 100

The Kerala Railway Police has come up with Helpline Service for the Railway commuters in the State, called “Rail Alert”. This is a Round-the-clock Helpline, which is monitored from the Railway Police Control Room in Thiruvananthapuram. The Rail Alert number 9846 200 100 can be accessed by the Railway commuters from any corner. Anyone in need of Railway Police assistance can contact this number at any time. Immediately the concerned field Officers/Policemen located in each of the running trains, or Railway Police Stations, are alerted, and Police assistance reaches the caller in minutes.
